Make a splash at The Setai, Miami Beach
June 23, 2018
The Setai is an intimate, serene oceanfront resort in the heart of South Beach. Its design vision artfully combines the rich architectural history of the neighborhood and its cultural diversity with the International Art Deco movement, particularly its influence in Asia.
The Art Deco landmark building was originally built between 1936 – 1938 as the famed Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel. Next to it is the 40-story glass tower that surpasses all around it in elevation, views and design.
The Setai was voted as the number 1 hotel on Miami Beach in 2013 by U.S. World & News Report and the number 1 Best Hotel in Miami and Miami Beach, as well as the number 2 Best Hotel in Florida by Conde Nast Traveler magazine’s 2013 “Reader’s Choice Awards.”
These are indeed worthy awards, once visited you will never stay anywhere else in Miami, it is a shining star amongst other shining stars, but it glows just a little more brightly.
The art deco building housing the stunning rooms offers true unadulterated luxury and style, second to none. The building is an exquisitely refurbished property that embraces its history, but at the same time the Asian influences enhance the peaceful ambience, which is a million miles from the madness of Miami Beach.
The thoughtful details of the bedroom are authenticated by the use of genuine jade pieces, lovingly sought out in the antique markets of China and displayed to perfection on teak walls. Spacious. Stunning. Serene.
The Studio Suites imbue the guests’ stay with an intimate, rich mood.
Junior Suites are more spacious suites and impart profound comfort and an innately serene spirit.
The One Bedroom Suites summon total harmony with striking touches, grand windows and balcony.
The Restaurant is the perfect way to start your day with healthy and fresh breakfast. This dining room features a gourmet menu of fine Mediterranean cuisine and is a relaxed and ambient atmosphere for lunch and dinner too and is a little less formal than the Setai Grill.
The Setai Grill is a new Asian prime steakhouse menu featuring the finest cuts of beef and Asian-inspired dishes. It is a more sophisticated dining experience and ideal for a romantic meal for 2 or equally for a special occasion of a larger party. The cuisine is exciting, aromatic and stylishly presented, as you come to expect at The Setai.
The Bar and Courtyard is the perfect spot to begin your evening, relax with a drink and light bites in the lobby bar or on deep cushions under stars by our water-encircling courtyard. The decor in the bar is exquisite, following the Asian influence throughout, but the main feature is the Mother of Pearl bar sourced from Bali, it adds a note of glamour.
The Spa at The Setai envelopes you and transports you from the Pacific Rim to South Beach. The peace and tranquility of this specially designed spa is dedicated to restoring balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit and together with bespoke treatments will restore you to a more relaxed you. The treatment rooms all have an ocean and pool view, a private bath and steam room. If you fancy a romantic therapy the room can be set up for to two people to enjoy special treatments at the same time, the therapists will create a unique spa experience exactly to your liking. The treatments are carried out with true expertise and care by dedicated, knowledgable staff.
I highly recommend the Setai Pampering Ritual, it begins with an Aromatherapy Foot Polish as a welcome ritual, which leads into a traditional Balinese-style massage, including Balinese palming, stretching effleurage and pressure-point massage techniques to relieve tension, improve blood circulation to soothe and calm the mind. The ritual finishes with a facial which you can choose with the help of your therapist. This is two and a half hours of heaven.
THE POOL AND BEACH
Surrounded by palm trees, you may choose your day-bed amongst the 3 temperature controlled aquamarine swimming pools. If you’re a beach lover the turquoise waters of South Beach are just a stones throw away. Wherever you wish to relax and enjoy the Miami sun at The Setai your comfort is of paramount importance, ice cold bottles of water, luxury towels, refreshing facial sprays and magazine are all part of the service. Cocktails served in coconut shells, gourmet burgers and fries and in fact a full beach or poolside menu is available. And when you’ve enjoyed your rest and relaxation maybe 30 minute jetski hire would grab your interest.
All in all our experience, and short but extremely sweet stay at The Setai was without a shadow of a doubt, one the most complete, sophisticated and relaxed stays we have ever enjoyed, anywhere, globally. The hotel is chic and stylish, every ornament and artifact lovingly sourced and every member of The Setai team hand picked for their specific skills, from waiting staff to management. In a word…it is perfection and we can’t wait to return…asap!
